A 30-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband and in-laws after she failed to get additional dowry from her parents.
The victim, Leelavathi, was throttled to death allegedly by her husband Sashikiran Reddy at their residence in Venkateshwara Nagar on Monday night. Marks of injuries were also found on her face and neck.
According to Malkajgiri police, Leelavathi was married to Sashikiran Reddy in October 2015. However, one month after the marriage, her in-laws started harassing her demanding additional dowry of Rs. 10 lakh and 15 tolas of gold. She was also sent back to her parents’ house. Following intervention of some elders, she was sent back after her parents paid Rs. 2 lakh. However, their harassment continued and she was against sent back. About two days ago, Sashikiran Reddy brought her back to his residence and allegedly murdered her on Monday night.
Malkajgiri police have registered a case under Section 302 and 304B against Sashikaran Reddy and his mother Usha and began investigations. (INN)
