Alleged harassment for more dowry by her husband has driven a 35-year-old woman to suicide in Doma police limits.
According to police, the deceased, S Padmamma, had attempted suicide by consuming some unknown poison at her residence in Mothkur on October 18. She was admitted to the Osmania Hospital for treatment where she died on Monday night.
Enquiries by the police revealed that Padmamma was married with Venkataiah about 12 years ago. However, she was allegedly being harassed for the last few months by her husband for additional dowry which consequently led her to the extreme step. A case of Dowry Harassment under Sections 498 A and 306 IPC have been registered against Venkataiah. (INN)
