Vowing to make Hyderabad a slum-free city, IT Minister K T Rama Rao, who is on cloud nine with landslide victory in the GHMC polls, today said the State government will construct double bedroom houses for families of Hamali Basthi in the city in six months. “Our aim is to construct one lakh houses for the poor in the city”, he added.
Taking a directive from Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the IT Minister toured the locality at Padmarao Nagar in Secunderabad area along with Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. Interacting with local people on the occasion, KTR said “With the people giving us mandate in the civic elections, we came here to ascertain your problems and address them at the earliest. After the civic poll results, KCR asked us to meet you personally to find out your problems”, KTR stated. The State government will construct two bed-room houses for the poor dwellers in the Hamali Basti in six months, he said. “Our ultimate aim is to make Hyderabad a slum-free city and provide housing facility for one lakh poor in the city. Some 800 families of Hamali Basthi will get houses in six months on the lines of IDH Colony, he added.
During the visit, the two ministers interacted with the people and most of the women seen urging them to provide permanent shelter as they were living in make-shift houses and huts that are in pathetic condition. Responding to their pleas, the IT minister looked at the houses in pathetic condition in which the poor hamali families were residing. He promised to provide them houses on par with IDH colony in six months. KTR also thanked the people for giving a thumping majority to the ruling party, which will keep its manifesto promises and make the city the most sought after destination on global standards. (NSS)
