House proceedings to be stormy affair

Hyderabad, December 07: The ensuing Assembly session to be held from December 7 is likely to be confined to one or two days in view of prevailing situation in the State following indefinite fast by Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhara Rao. The TRS demand that the State Government should pass a resolution on Telangana on the first day of the session, warning by the Telangana students’ union JA C (Joint Action Committee) that they will lay siege to the State Assembly on December 10 if the separate Statehood issue is not resolved by December 7 are some of the reasons that may force the winter session to be limited to a few days.

It is learnt that the Assembly which will meet at 11 a.m. on December 7, will first take up condolence motion to pay tributes to former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, who died in a helicopter crash on September 2.

The House will be adjourned for the day after adopting the condolence motion resolution moved by Chief Minister K Rosaiah on the first day. Later, the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) chaired by Assembly Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy will meet to finalise the number of days and the agenda to be taken up during the session. Continuation of the remaining session is dependent on mood of the political parties particularly the Opposition.

Meanwhile, Kiran Kumar Reddy has reviewed the Assembly security arrangements with senior police officials today. He suggested to them to ensure proper security arrangements in the premises. Sensing obstruction to the House proceedings by the TRS and other organisations, he directed them to take necessary preventive measures. Director General of Police Girish Kumar, City Police Commissioner Prasada Rao and other senior officials attended the meeting.

On the other hand, the Rosaiah Government has also geared up to face the onslaught of the Opposition parties in the Assembly.

Apart from indefinite fast by the TRS leader, subjects relating to law and order, drought, floods, alleged irregularities in Obulapuram Mining Company, rising prices of essential commodities, Hyderabad Free Zone and power supply position are likely to make the House proceedings a stormy affair.
