Six houses in three apartments were looted by burglars who made their escape good with cash and other booty in the absence of the owners of the houses in Vanasthalipuram on the outskirts of the city.
According to the police the culprits gained entry into the houses after digging a hole in the compound wall. Since the owners of the houses were away, the burglars had a field day and carried away whatever they could lay their hands on in the premises.
The actual loss of property in the burglary could be ascertained only after the return of the house owners. Meanwhile the police registered a case and investigating the theft in the houses.
