Hyderabad: Canara Bank and State Bank of India had given loans for the construction of Hotel Viceroy which could not be repaid on time. Now that these banks have notified to auction the hotel building to recover the loans, Wakf Board has become alert to get the wakf land restored.
The cost of the building is estimated at Rs. 92,43,00,000 and the bidders have been asked to deposit Rs. 9,23,40,000.
E-auction would be conducted between 12 noon and 1 p.m. on 28th July.
CEO of Wakf Board after consulting lawyers issued a notice to Canara Bank and SBI to stop auction since the land belongs to Wakf Board. Necessary wakf documents have also sent to these banks. Wakf Board decided to approach Wakf Tribunal for stopping this action.
It may be noted that a case is pending in the court since 2014. The land on which the hotel building was constructed belongs to Daira Hazrat Khamooshan. It contains 4 acres and two guntas. The management of the hotel contends that Wakf Board had passed a resolution declaring it a non-wakf property. The genuineness of the resolution is suspicious.
