Hot summer effect: Saudi relieves employees for 3 hours daily

Riyadh: The Saudi Ministry of Labor on Monday announced that employers must make sure that their workers stay out from direct sun rays from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This directive will start from June 15 and continue until Sept. 15.

The ministry’s Undersecretary for Inspection and Development of Work Environment, Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Awaidi, said the recent decision excludes only oil and gas workers and the areas  that experience low temperatures would be exempt.

Measures, however, must be taken to ensure that they are protected from the heat of the sun.

He said that the Labor Ministry is working to ensure a safe working environment for all workers and to prevent injuries and accidents.
