Shahdol (MP), January 12:An eight-year tribal girl suffered burns after her hostel superintendent allegedly branded her with a hot iron rod as punishment here, officials said today.
District Collector Niraj Dubey today suspended the tribal hostel superintendent, Anita Sant, after an initial probe report into the incident was submitted to him by Tribal Welfare Assistant Commissioner Anand Mishra, they said.
Sushila Singh, a student of Class 3, left the hostel for home at village Gohparu on January 4 stating she was unwell. On the following day, her parents noticed burn injuries on her body.
Her parents Shekhlal and Seema asked the girl about the injuries and she told them her hostel superintendent had placed a hot iron rod on her body on January 3. They lodged a complaint with the Collector on January 6.
The hostel superintendent was angry with Sushila after her parents lodged a complaint with the authorities a few days ago stating that Sant was ill-treating students, sources close to the family said.
A detailed probe into the incident was on, the officials added. PTI
