Hospital staff stage dharna for increments

Hyderabad, October 12: Mild tension prevailed at the Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer and Research Institute today after a section of employees boycotted duties and staged a protest on the hospital premises demanding increments and other allowances to them. They alleged that the hospital chief executive officer (CEO) is biased in giving increments to them.

The issue was resolved late in the night after the intervention of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu.

Trouble started when scores of employees boycotted duties since morning and staged a dharna in front of the hospital CEO RP Singh’s chamber. They shouted slogans against him and alleged that the CEO had deliberately gave increments only to a select few while the remaining were deprived of the same.

They insisted that hospital chairman and actor Nandamuri Balakrishna should intervene and resolve their problem. As Balakrishna was out of station, the protesting employees took out a rally to the NTR Trust Bhavan to meet Chandrababu Naidu and submitted a representation.

They relented after Naidu assured to look into their grievances.

Sources told Express that the management asked the employees to come up with their individual grievances and the problem would be sorted out soon.

Police were posted in the hospital premises to prevent any untoward incident.
