Mangalhat, Dhoolpet and Puranapul areas of the old city are the localities from where gudamba is supplied to the entire city. The gudamba packets are sold openly like milk packets and are supplied door to door. Gudamba business is at its peak in old city. The illegal businessmen of gudamba are emboldened due to rampant corruption. By paying a negligible ‘mamool’ they run business of thousands of rupees easily and openly. They are supplying slow poison to the residents.
A man near High Court was found drinking gudamba openly as if he is drinking water to quench his thirst. He told that his name was Rajaram and said that he is an attender at High Court. He informed that he can get the packet easily at the cost of Rs. 12.
Unfortunately a Muslim family in Hasan Nagar is actively carrying on with illicit liquor brewing. The family reportedly greased the palm of officials on large scale as a result even if some of the members of the family are behind the bars, the other family members actively carry on the business. Women of Hasan Nagar have complained police commissioner that their men are spending their hard-earned money for liquor packets as a result their houses are a scene of frequent brawls. They requested to direct police officials to come into action and take measures to prevent poor families from getting ruined.
