The last date to submit applications for Honourarium to Imams & Muezzins provided by the government of Telangana has been extended to January 10. Chief Executive Officer Waqf Board Mohammed Asadullah told that applications can be submitted online till January 10, 5 pm. Applications are being accepted for the scheme from December 7 and the last date was December 30. However since the applications were not received as per the target, it has been decided to extend the date.
It is said that 1900 applications were submitted while the government has set a target to give Rs. 1000 monthly honourarium to Imams and Muezzins of 5000 masajid. Government has allotted Rs. 12 Cr to the Waqf Board for the scheme.
Interested Imams and Muezzins can submit online applications after fulfilling required conditions on www.waqftelangana.gov.in or at MeSeva centres. The scheme has not received encouraging response because there are not too many takers for it. Waqf Board has set up a special cell for applicants.
