In a case of alleged honour killing, a teenage girl was hanged to death allegedly by her parents for falling in love with a boy outside their community.
The incident happened a couple of weeks ago came to light on Friday after the police took into custody Sriramulu and Parvathamma, the parents of the victim.
According to Police the 17- year-old girl was studying Intermediate first year at Madanapalle, fall in love with B Suresh (22) living opposite to their house. The girl belonged to a Scheduled Tribe, while the boy , B Suresh hailed from a Scheduled Caste community. Their love affair was going on for the last couple of years, despite frequent warning by her parents.
With the girl remaining adamant, Sriramulu and Parvathamma took Sri Vani to isolated hillock on the village outskirts saying for Puja. After Puja parents of the victim took her to near by forest and hanged her from a tree. They even banged her head with a boulder to ensure that she is dead. Her body was then packed in a bag and thrown into bushes, the police officer said. Sriramulu and Parvathamma reportedly confessed to the crime.
