Honour for 20 overseas, 18 Indian hindi scholars

As many as 20 foreign scholars of Hindi, along with 18 Indians, will be felicitated for their commendable contribution towards development of the language at the ongoing 9th World Hindi Conference here.

Among the Indian scholars are Balkavi Bairagi, Madhukar Upadhyaya, Himanshu Joshi, Kailash Chandra Pant, Madhusudan Tripathi, Zakir Hussain, Y Lakshmi Prasad, Gyan Chaturvedi, Usha Ganguly, Prof S Shesharatnam, Dr Rajendra Prasad Mishra, M Piyongtemjan Jamir, Prof C E Jeeni, Dr Ram Gopal Sharma ‘Dinesh’, Prof Jabir Hussain, Prof B Lalithamba, Dr K Vanaja ‘Harivansh’ and Dr Girijasahankar Trivedi.

The foreign scholars to be felicitated include Dr Peter Gerard Friedlander (Australia), Prof Sergei Sereberyani (Russia), Dr Dagmar Merkova (Chekoslovakia), Marco Jolie (Italy), Prof Liu Anwu (China), Dr Sarita Budhu and Satyadev Tengar (Mauritius), Bamrung Kha Mek (Thailand) and Prof Upul Ranjeet Hevatanagamez (Sri Lanka).

Others in the list are Vanya Georgiva Gancheva (Bulgaria), Jabullah Fikri (Afghanistan), a young candidate from Surinam Bholanath Narayan, Katrina Balereeva Dovbanya (Ukraine), Dr Krishna Kumar and and Vijay Rana (UK), Prof Indu Prakash Pandey and Dr Barbara Loterz (Germany), Prof Tikedi Isheeda and and Dr Tormacho Kikuchi (Japan) and Dr Ved Prakash Batuk (US).
