Honda Cars India Sales Down 23% in March

New Delhi: Honda Cars India on Friday reported a 23.2 per cent decline in domestic sales at 17,430 units last month.

Honda Cars India had sold 22,696 units in March 2015, it said in a statement.

Last month, the company sold 2,158 units of small car Brio, 3,683 units of premium hatchback Jazz, 5,223 units of compact sedan Amaze, 601 units of MPV Mobilio and 5,662 units of the mid-sized sedan City.

Besides, the company sold 94 units of sports utility vehicle C-RV.

Additionally, it exported a total of 193 units during the month.

For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2016, the company said its domestic sales were at 1,92,059 units as against 1,89,062 units in 2014-15 – an increase of 2 per cent.

HCIL senior vice president-marketing and sales Jnaneswar Sen said, “Year 2015-16 was an eventful and rewarding year for HCIL. We continued our growth journey in the market making this year as 4th consecutive year of annual sales growth.”

On the outlook, he said, “The new fiscal year holds tremendous opportunity for our further growth as we will enhance our product line-up with the launch of new models and expand our dealer network.”

With the upcoming launch of Honda BR-V, the company will mark its entry into a new product segment, he said.
