Home ministry to take action on Shunglu findings

New Delhi, April 11: The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has sent the Shunglu probe report on alleged irregularities related to infrastructure projects for the Commonwealth Games to the home ministry for follow-up action.

According to sources, the PMO has asked the home ministry to reply to the queries raised by the V.K. Shunglu Committee, which is probing irregularities in the preparations for the October 2010 Commonwealth Games.

In its report on infrastructure projects, the panel had noted there was no special preparation by the Delhi government and blamed Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for her decisions leading to cost escalation in the projects.

Shunglu, a former comptroller and auditor general (CAG), was appointed by the prime minister to head the probe into charges of corruption in the Commonwealth Games. The 235-page report was submitted to the PMO March 18.
