Home Minister Shinde to visit Russia

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde is visiting Russia for three days beginning on April 10 during which he will hold delegation-level talks on various security issues of mutual interest, including the issues relating to the trans national terrorism, disaster management and combating of illicit drug-trafficking in the international context.

Union Home Secretary R.K. Singh will also accompany Shinde, who will be visiting Russia along with a high-level delegation.

During the visit, Shinde will meet the Interior Minister of Russia, Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Minister of Emergency Situation (Disaster Management), Vladimir Puchkov and Director of the Federal Narcotics Service of Russia, Viktor Ivanov, also in the rank of a minister.

Shinde will hold delegation level talks separately with three Russian Ministers on various security related issues of mutual interest, including the issues relating to the trans national terrorism, disaster management and combating of illicit drug-trafficking in the international context.

He will also visit various security related installations and high-end training facilities in Russia.

Shinde and Vladimir Puchkov sign a Regulation defining the structure, function and procedure of the Joint Commission, which has been established by an agreement signed on December 21, 2010 in New Delhi in the area of Emergency Management.

The agreement will enable both countries to mutually help each other in the field of Disaster Management (Emergency Management).
