Home Minister convenes emergency security meet

New Delhi, February 14: In the wake of the Pune blast, Home Minister P Chidambaram today convened an emergency meeting of officials to review the security situation.

The meeting is being attended by Home Secretary G K Pillai and chiefs of Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), among others.

Mr Chidambaram, who was in Tamil Nadu yesterday, had rushed to Pune early today to get first-hand information of the blast that claimed nine lives. He visited the German Bakery and also the hospitals where the injured have been admitted.

The Home Minister ruled out any intelligence failure in the explosion and said he would not indulge in any speculation till the forensic science investigations were complete.

He later came back to Delhi and convened an emergency meeting to take stock of the situation.
