Hyderabad, December 17: Government has assured the state assembly on Thursday that it would order for an enquiry into the alleged atrocious behaviour of women police towards the agitating Indira Kranti Padham (IKP) workers at Indira Park on Wednesday and would take action against the culprits.
TDP and other opposition parties yesterday strongly protested against police lathi charge on IKP workers and interrupted the assembly proceedings.
Women members of TDP reached the podium protesting and shouting slogans. CPI and CPM members too joined the protest while lady members of Praja Rajyam reached the centre of the house and condemned police canning.
Deputy speaker instructed home minister Sabita Indira Reddy to investigate into the matter amidst opposition protest. The Home Minister who was in the House, intervened and assured the agitated members that she was ordering an enquiry into the incident right away and would take action against those responsible for the excesses.
