Holy pilgrimage goes ‘smart’ as Saudi Arabia launches apps to help Hajj pilgrims

Makkah: Nearly two million Muslims from around the globe arrived in Makkah to perform the holy pilgrimage. Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. According to sources, the Saudis have launched “smart hajj” apps to help pilgrims with everything from travel plans to medical care.

While one app Asefny helps pilgrims request emergency medical attention, the Manasikana app provides translation for pilgrims who do not speak Arabic or English. Authorities are able to locate those in need through the app.

This year a record 1,75,025 Indians went for the Holy Pilgrimage.
