Holi event to raise funds for social causes

Hyderabad, March 17: While city denizens are making plans to celebrate Holi in various ways, a special programme Khelo Holi is going to be organised to raise funds for social issues like polio eradication drive and providing basic infrastructure in government schools. The event will be held at the Sanjeevaiah park on March 20 from 9 a.m to 2 p.m.

The event will be organised by the Rotary Club of Secunderabad Silver Line (RCSSL) in collaboration with the state Tourism department and State Bank of Hyderabad. Unveiling the posters and logos of Khelo Holi at an event held on Tuesday, Sunil Kumar Gupta, member environment, HMDA said that for the first time such a large cultural event will be organised at the Sanjeeviah park. He appreciated the initiative to use eco-friendly colours and promote culture.

The event will have many special features like use of eco-friendly natural colours, amusement programmes like rain dance, live DJ, orchestra, gallery for spectators, a separate dry and wet area. There will also be various competitions for children like ‘tomato holi’ and ‘matka fod’ for elders. Many cine artists, eminent personalities and dignitaries are expected to participate in the celebrations.
