Ms. Ashwini Sitara, Regional Passport Officer of Hyderabad told that Hyderabad passport office is on the top of passport offices in the country in issuing passports. During the past three months it has issued 1.99 lakh passports. In August 2004 itself, 84, 806 have been issued which is a national record.
Addressing a press conference yesterday, she told that Hyderabad Passport office is also issuing temporary passport very speedily. She also told that regional passport office of Hyderabad is providing “On-hold Appointment” facility to the applicants for the first time in the country. This facility is available to the applicants who have failed to submit all the relevant documents at the time of filing passport applications. In this way, the applicants are being provided some more time to submit the documents. Any applicant can approach the passport office between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on any working day and record his complaint. A temporary help desk has also been setup to attend to the complaints of the applicants. This Help Desk has been helpful in the cases of change of date of birth, adoption of children and for other entries. The students who are studying in the local colleges are being issued passports on the basis of their bonafide certificates without insisting for the proof of their nativity. She advised the students to file their passport application online without falling prey into the hands of agents. For issuing passports of Minor children there is no need to submit the passport copies of their parents.
