Further to the decisions taken by Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minister K. Tarakarama Rao and city ministers who are supervising the rain relief and road restoration measures, the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited and L&TMRHL have formed 10 joint teams to take care of Metro Rail corridors and work spots in different stretches.
Each team is headed by a Deputy Executive Engineer of HMRL and the teams are provided with dozers, auto trolleys, adequate quantity of wet mix mecadam (WMM), shellmac and sufficient number of labourers to carry out immediate temporary road restoration works.
HMRL Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy has inspected different Metro Rail stretches along with L&TMRHL MD Shivanand Nimbargi, HMRL Chief Engineer Md. Ziauddin, Project Director L&TMRHL MP Naidu and senior engineers of HMRL and L&TMRHL. Since the road stretches in different parts got damaged due to heavy rainfall and inundation, as a first step, the road surface which got damaged is being scraped at different locations to remove the undulations to make the roads motorable. HMRL and L&TMRHL have drawn up action plan to improve the road surface in coordination with National Highways authorities and GHMC after stoppage of rains and drying of road surface.
Further, as instructed by the Municipal Administration Minister, perennial water stagnation points and possible solutions including laying/remodelling of storm water drains, resurfacing the road with paver blocks at valley points where water accumulates during rains and other such long term measures will be planned and shared with GHMC and National Highways authorities for coordinated implementation.
