HMDA accorded permission to collect tax on ORR

Hyderabad, April 7: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has been accorded permission by the state government to collect tax from the vehicles plying on the Outer Ring Road which has been opened for public use from March 1, 2011.

The HMDA told that the approved toll tax rates are on par with the National Highways Authority of India.

HMDA said that Vijaywada road to Gachibowli via Shamsabad with a total length of 62 km is available for public connection. Toll rates are Rs. 0.82 per km for cars and jeeps, 1.33 rupees per km for LCVs and mini buses and 2.79 rupees per km for buses and trucks and Rs 4.36 per km for heavy vehicles such as multi excel trucks.

The HMDA said that the toll amount payable will be based on the travel distance.

Toll Collection is likely to begin in about 90 days, immediately after finalization of tenders.
