Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy today handed over cheques of Rs 10 lakh each to the kin of five deceased families of Telangana statehood movement. They included four, who laid their lives during 1969 movement and one which did so during 2001 movement.
Speaking on the occasion, the Home Minister said the amount was a token as we cannot compensate their sacrifices and lives. Referring to the related cases, Narsimha Reddy said he was also facing two cases for his participation in the statehood movement. The government would provide all help to these families, he stated. The TRS Government withdrew all cases against separate State movement agitators, he said, adding wrote a letter to the Centre to withdraw the cases filed by the Railways against agitators.
1000 cc cameras for Vinayaka Nimajjan
The Home Minister also said elaborate arrangements with tight surveillance with 1,000 cc cameras were being made for smooth conduct of Ganesh idol immersion at Hussain Sagar and other lakes in the city. Police personnel were working round-the-clock for peaceful conduct of the festivities with cooperation of the people, Reddy said. He also urged the shop-owners and business establishments to set up CC cameras at their business establishments for fool proof security and avoid any untoward incident. (NSS)
