Hyderabad, August 27: The First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge today held the self styled Hizbul Mujahideen commander Mujeeb Ahmed and his six aides guilty in illegal arms procurement. However the court would pronounce the sentence tommorrow.
Mujeeb and his associates were brought to the Nampally criminal courts admidst tight security and the sessions judge rewarded conviction late in the evening.
When Mujeeb Ahmed came out of the court hall he made certain allegations against the leader of a local political party alleging that they along with the Chief Minister had conspired and got him implicated in this case.
On December 26, 2005 the Commissioners Task Force had arrested Mujeeb Ahmed @ Ahmed Bhai@ Deccani Bhai for allegedly hatching a criminal conspiracy against the state by procuring sophisticated AK 47 rilfes from Hizbul Mujahideen Chief Syed Salahuddin of Pakistan. At the time of arrest the police had recovered a satelite phone, self made inflamatory CDs and also cash from his possession.
The illegal arms procurement and criminal conspiracy was busted in Rajasthan after the Ajmer District Police arrested a Truck driver Shabbir and cleaner Ravinder and recovered AK 47 rifles from the truck.However the former Naxalite Nayeemuddin @ Bhongir Nayeem and Hizb Chief Syed Salahuddin are still at large in this case.
The sessions court however convicted Mujeeb Ahmed and his associates Zohra Nishat,Jahangir, Yasin @ Pappu,Shaik Awadhi, Shabbir, Ravinder under Section 122 of Indian Penal Code, Section 124 (A) of Indian Penal Code and 23 (2) of Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. Mujeeb who is accused number 1 in this case was also convicted in section 6 of Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act 1933.
