Wuerzburg, July 22: An HIV-positive German man previously jailed for having unprotected sex with seven women had his prison term extended on Wednesday in a new case involving three further women, one of them a 13-year-old schoolgirl.
The man, 41, had neither told the women of his HIV infection nor did he use a condom, the court was told. None of the women were infected by him.
The man had previously been convicted and sentenced to five and one-half years in early 2007, but a new trial was called when three further cases came to light.
Convicting him on eight counts of attempting to cause dangerous physical injury and of serious sexual abuse of a minor, the court in the city of Wuerzburg said, “He exploited the tender love of his victims without scruple.”
The court extended his prison term to eight years.
“He knows he has a disease and he deliberately does not say so,” said the judge. The accused told the court, “I didn’t mean to hurt anybody,” and promised he would use a condom in future encounters after his release from jail.
He was infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) 11 years ago.
