Surat, January 27: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi criticised the Centre and the Jammu and Kashmir government for not allowing BJP leaders to unfurl the tricolour in Srinagar”s Lal Chowk, saying history would never forgive them.
“I congratulate the youths who have taken this challenge to hoist the tricolour in Kashmir Valley. They should be feted, but here they are being pushed in jail. History will never forgive such governments,” Modi said during a function at Jahangirpura here last evening.
Terming what happened in J-K to foil the BJP”s plan to hoist the tricolour as an insult to the country, Modi asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to encourage the youth to unfurl the national flag.
“I appeal to the Prime Minister to encourage the youth of the country to hoist the tricolour. The situation in Jammu and Kashmir is an insult to the country,” he added.
The tricolour is the country”s pride and there should not be fooling around with it, Modi said.
