History-sheeter shot dead by miscreants

Ahmeddabad, July 06: A known history-sheeter of the city, Pradeep Kavishwar alias Pradeep don, was shot dead allegedly by two miscreants at Khadia on Sunday afternoon. The incident took place near Bala Hanuman temple in Khadia around 2 pm.

An eyewitness in the case, Uday Upadhyay, has identified the duo, said the police, adding that they will be arrested soon.

A resident of Limda Ni Pol in Khadia, Kavishwar had taken his dog for a walk when the accused, who came on a motorcycle, intercepted him at Pushpkarna Ni Pol near Bala Hanuman temple.

One of the accused, whom Upadhyay has identified as Jignesh Soni, a resident of Khadia, shook hands with Kavishwar and hugged him as well.

“In the meantime, Soni’s yet-to-be-identified accomplice took out a revolver and shot Kavishwar on his chest,” said Khadia police Inspector A B Bhimavat.

As Kavishwar collapsed, the duo rushed to their motorcycle and tried to escape. When Upadhyay tried to catch them, the unidentified accused, threatened him with his revolver, the police said.

Kavishwar was immediately rushed to V S Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Based on a complaint filed by Kavishwar’s brother, Atul (50), the Khadia police have booked Soni and his unidentified accomplice on charges of murder.

“A case has been registered under Section 302 of the IPC and we are on the look out for the duo,” Bhimavat added.

According to records, Kavishwar had more than 26 criminal cases against him. “These cases include extortion bids, assaults and other offences,” Bhimavat said.
