Historical monuments destroyed due to the carelessness of Archaeology officials

Historical buildings constructed during the Qutub Shahi, and Asif Jahi regimes are known as national heritage buildings of Telangana Region. Government is getting benefit out of these buildings even today. The department of Archaeology and its officials are careless in maintaining these monuments.

In colloquium was organized at Telangana Resource Centre on “Neglected archaeological monuments – their protection form historical perspective”.

Archaeological experts expressed their views on this topic. They said that besides the study of history, the observation and visit to historical places is also important for keeping our culture and civilization alive.

M.M. Ved Kumar, President of Telangana Resource Centre, in his presidential speech said that the Qutub Shahi and Asif Jahi regimes were the golden periods of Telangana Region in which historical monuments were constructed keeping some purpose in mind.

The narrow mindedness of the capitalists of Andhra area for these rulers is responsible for ruining these monuments. Mr. Ved Kumar further told that Hyderabad is the best example of the culture and civilization which is being destroyed by the capitalists of A.P. in an organized way. He meintioned the destructions of may historical monuments. He told that Nizam state was unique in its constructions. He mentioned the historical buildings ranging from Hyderabad to Gulbarga.

The guest speaker Mr. Jayadheer Thirumala Rao expressed surprise at the carelessness of the officials of archaeology department. Dr. Abdul Qayyum, former Dy. Director Dept. of Archaeology told that the lethargic attitude is causing the destruction of these historical monuments. He stressed the need for the protection of these monuments because by doing so, we would be preserving our culture and civilization. Dr. E. Shiva Nagi Reddy Dr. S. Jaya Kishan Rao and others also participated in the discussions.
