Hyderabad: Jamia Nizamia is a 135-year-old religious institution of Hyderabad where students from all over India gain basic Islamic knowledge and memorize the entire holy Quran as well.
It has various sections where different courses are taught such as Hives, Nazira etc., This institute is situated at Shibligunj. However, The Siasat Daily is also one of the leading Urdu newspapers of Hyderabad and its readers are found throughout the globe.
In 2003, it was decided by those who were at the helm of the affairs in both the organizations that a unique concept should be adopted where it should be made a point that Muslim students could not waste their summer holidays especially in unacademic activities.
Mufti Khaleel Ahmed, Shaikh-ul-Jamia, Mir Ahmed Ali, secretary, Maulana Dr. Saifullah, Sheikh-ul-Adab and Maulana Hafiz Mohd. Obaidullah Faheem are instrumental in running the organization to the satisfaction of one and all.
Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, editor Siasat is always showed his concern for the welfare of the Muslim community and starting the Summer Deeni classes is another feather in Mr. Zahid Ali Khan’s already crowded cap.
Various schools, which have no activities during the summer vacations, are selected for the conduct of the classes. Every year the list of the schools is published in Siasat where the name of the deenyat teacher is also published who would be responsible for infusing religious knowledge to the students.
According to the facts and figures obtained from Jamia Nizamia, it is to be stated here that in 2003, 43 schools were turned into the centers for the classes.
As it was the very first year, that is why there was no center allotted in districts. 4250 students enrolled and expenditure of Rs. 98,580/- was incurred followed by 2004 where once again there were no centers in districts but in twin cities there were 72 centres where 7,260 students enrolled their names and expenses were made to the tune of 1,51,600/-
Then came 2005 where apart from 77 centres in twin cities, 15 centres were allotted in districts for the first time. The number of students also increased to 8953 and the expenses obliviously went up to Rs. 1,68,200/-
In 2006, 30 centres were allotted in districts whereas 86 centres were allotted to the twin cities. The numbers of students were 9866 and the expenses crossed over Rs. 2 lakhs. The exact amount was Rs. 2,05, 600/-
In 2007, 100 centres were allotted in twin cities and the centers allotted to districts also increased to 41. The number of students crossed over 10,000. The exact number was 10918 and the expenses incurred were Rs. 2,13,200/-
Then came 2008 where once again the number of centers allotted to the twin cities increased to 110 with 45 centres in districts.
The number of students raised to 11,988 and the expenditure was shown as Rs. 2,51,200/-
In 2009, it was felt that the number of centers in twin cities and districts came down to just 85 and 32 respectively but surprisingly, the number of students increased to 12254 and the expenses came down to the tune of Rs. 37000/- as the expenses showed the figure as Rs. 2,14,800/-
We are now in 2010 and classes are just begun. This unique trend is perhaps not existed in any Indian city as the collaboration of Siasat and Jamia Nizamia is going places with every passing year.
Inshallah this collaboration would become stronger and it would continue to provide the best way to spend the summer holidays to the students community by enlightening them in the field of religion.
