Hiring Indian workers made easy

Dubai, August 18: An online system for recruitment procedures of Indian workers in UAE will be launched in September. This online system is to ensure transparent recruitment procedures for skilled and unskilled Indian workers, Indian Ambassador to the UAE M. K. Lokesh said on Wednesday.

The Indian Ambassador told Khaleej Times that the embassy would formally launch the online process in September.

Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs have devised this procedure to streamline overseas recruitment of Indian workers requiring immigration clearance prior to their departure.

Online portal www.uaeindians.org/recruitment will flash the procedures. It’s a first-of-its-kind integrated online platform that will link the database of the UAE Ministry of Labour (MoL), the Indian missions here and the Indian immigration authorities. This will enhance work flow and exchange of data among them easier.

The portal also guides workers about the labour and residency laws applicable in the UAE. It also assits to understand the notable points before accepting an employment contract.

All foreign employers recruiting Indian workers have to register their details on the portal. Companies in the UAE and project exporters from India have to register their detailed company profile to seek the attestation, which they have been doing manually till now.

In this joint venture by the two governments the online system will reduce the chances of substitution or deviation from the employment contracts agreed upon by employers when they seek the mandatory attestation from the Indian missions prior to the recruitment of workers. The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Indian Consulate in Dubai provide the attestation as a permission to recruit workers from India only if the companies meet basic wages and benefits stipulated by the government.
