Amazon.coms FC Operations Technology Database Team is currently looking for a MySQL/Oracle Database Administrator/Engineer position for its Hyderabad office to design, develop and manage the persistence solutions that serve and support FC Operations Technology needs. Database Administrator/Engineer will be part of the worldwide operations and responsible for designing, managing and maintaining highly complex, confidential, mission critical and high availability databases in a dynamic and fast paced environment. This job involves design reviews for new/existing development transportation technologies applications, identify and architect right RDBMS database solutions like Oracle, MySQL, Big Data or No SQL based cloud computing and storage technologies, executing projects to deliver high quality deliverables on time, defining development processes for continuous improvement, driving the technology direction and leading the database engineering team effectively.
DBA Database Administrator/Engineer will be predominantly working on databases hosted on classic hardware and on cloud. The successful candidate will have expert level skills in relevant database technologies, understand business requirements and technical implementation of distributed services architectures, and have demonstrated ability to collaborate with engineering teams in other geographies to define and implement broad, business-wide standards for the way databases are designed and implemented. Next, strategy will be translated into efficient and scalable implementation methodologies and tracked by meaningful metrics. These systems, which support a wide variety of internal revenue generating services used by many groups in the company, are critical to Amazons success, growth, and operations. Excellent listening, writing, verbal communication skills, and very strong technical competency are essential. You must also identify and deliver infrastructure and database projects in support of business initiatives, and platform improvements and enhancements for continuous operations.
Basic qualification
BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and experience.
Handling Backup and recovery , performance issues ,managing Oracle/MySQL databases.
Five or more years of industry experience, including at least four years of hands-on DB administration, three or more years hands-on DB development projects
Fluency in Oracle/MySQL DB technologies and tools, DB development
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of working effectively with Development Engineering and other functions
Converting logical to physical design
On-call support
Experience in Linux
Preferred qualifications
Highly motivated to solve problems efficiently.
Fast troubleshooting and resolution skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities.
Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with DBA and application teams
Experience with high-volume OLTP database systems.
Experience in a 24X7 production environment
Experience with terabyte databases.
Knowledge of Oracle DBA best practices (e.g., schema management, index optimization, SQL plan management, replication)
Strong query and database tuning skills
Capacity monitoring and management capabilities
Experience in NOSQL solutions is a plus.
Shell Scripting/Perl scripting would be a plus.
Understanding of distributed service architectures.
