Vishweshwar Bhatt the popular yet controversial journalist, is one among the three journalists who were allegedly on the target list of the alleged assassination plot, which Bangalore police claimed to have busted recently. The 3 journalists were allegedly on the target list for their biased articles towards Islam and Muslims. Bhat is the editor-in-chief of Kannada Prabha and Suvarna News 24×7 Channel. In his interview to Vicky Nanjappa of rediff.com Bhatt rebutted the tag of ‘pro-BJP journalist’ given to him. During his interview he expressed surprised as to why he was targeted. He attributed it to the misconception of a few youth. He also claimed that he and his team exposed various scams in the BJP government in Karnataka.
He said he was neither pro-Hindu nor pro-BJP; but was a journalist. However he admitted that he had met with Narendra Modi as a journalist and he sees nothing wrong in that. He asked those who are against him to use pen to hit back at him instead of using gun. Expressing his views regarding the journalist arrested by Bangalore police for having alleged terror links, he said ‘I guess penetrating into the media is one of the new strategies being adopted by these youths. I think he has taken a safe short cut to carry out his mission and unfortunately he has been misguided by others.’
As regards to his tag of being pro-Hindu he said ‘being pro-Hindu does not mean you are anti-Muslim. It is a misconception that people have. Hindutva preaches love for the nation and not just love for Hindus.
