On the 71st death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, some members of Hindu Mahasabha enacted Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination to glorify assassin Nathuram Godse, the man who killed Gandhi on January 30, 1948. Hindu Mahasabha national secretary Puja Shakun Pandey not only shot at an effigy of Mahatma Gandhi but she and her supporters also shouted slogans like ‘Nathuram Godse amar rahe’. She did so while donning saffron attire. The extremists are now violating the sanctity of the colour which was once the symbol of peace and the attire which was once donned by saints and mahatmas. Now the same attire is being donned by killers and murderers.
The saffron attire was defamed because of these elements and the term saffron terrorism came into existence in the country. The fact is that the colour saffron had always safeguarded human values conveyed the message of peace. But now the people of extremist outfits like Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Hindu Mahasabha, Abhinav Bharat, Sanatan Sanstha and Bajrang Dal are also indulging in the acts like that of Duryodhana, Kans, Ravana and Hiranyakashyap.
