Hindus raised objeciton over Mosque construction

On the instructions from SP of RR Dist, Mr. P. Uday Kumar, DSP organized a meeting of the Peace Committee of Tandur. It was felt that there is a need for such Peace Committees especially on certain occasions on the law and order situation becomes tense. This time, police department is constituting Peace Committees at division and locality levels. A Peace Committee consisting of 60 citizens was formed in Tandur, which comprises members from all the communities and organizations.

The first introductory meeting of the Peace Committee got affected when the President of Hindu Utsava Committee and the leader of a political party Mr. Ameeth Kumar gave mischievous statement that three mosques are being constructed in Tandur. He produced some youths whom he had brought along with him. He told that he is not against the construction of mosques but we must hear the objections of these youths also. With this organized scheme of the said leader, Muslim leaders were spell-bound.

Police had convened the meeting of the Peace Committee for arriving at a consensus orcompromise for maintaining law and order in the town but for a while the atmosphere became tense. Controlling the situation, Mr. Uday Kumar told that this meeting has been convened to maintain Peace and Communal harmony. Discussions should be made only on sensitive issues and each community should respect the sentiments of the other community. Mr. Viswanatha Goud, former Chairman of the Municipality told that the construction of places of worship is a purely religious matter.

Any untoward intervention in such matters is not appropriate. He also clarified that the Muslims won’t construct mosques unnecessarily. Their religions doesn’t permit it. Mr. V. N. Goud told that for everything Muslims have rules. It is, therefore, necessary for the police not to interfere into their affairs.

Mr. Abdur Rauf, President of Tandur Town TDP raised an objection for not inviting the MLA of the area. He pointed out that neglecting the peoples’ representatives is inappropriate. DSP told that it is only an introductory meeting. This point will be borne in mind next time.

Circle Inspector of Police Mr. Prasad Kumar objected that he was not informed. Mr. Goud protested against this remark. On DSP, Mr. Abdur Rauf and Mr. Khurshid’s intervention the matter was passified.

Introducing the 60 member Peace Committee the DSP told that this committee will cooperate with the police in maintaining peace. Its meeting will be held on the last day of every month. DSP warned the rowdysheeters and anti-social elements and said that stern action would be taken against them if they tried to disrupt the peace of the town.
