Hindu temple desecrated in Bangladesh

Sylhet (Bangladesh): A temple frequented by the minority Hindu community in Sylhet, Bangladesh, was recently desecrated by some miscreants.

According to the Daily Star, the idol of the Bhairabtala Temple at Chalibandar was damaged by at least five persons on Wednesday evening, three days after Bangladesh Finance Minister A M A Muhith inaugurated the construction work of the temple’s five-storey building.

One of the miscreants is in police custody and is being interrogated.

Sylhet Puja UdjapanParishad and Bhairabtala Temple Committee have called on the government should impose strict rules to prevent such attacks.
