Shimla: Himachal Pradesh’s Una town continued to experience extremely heavy rain and received 226 mm downpours on Friday, the Met Office said.
“Monsoon was active in the state during the last 24 hours. Precipitation occurred at most places with very heavy rainfall in Una, Bilaspur and Sirmaur districts, an official said.
He said similar weather conditions are likely to continue in the state till Sunday.
Paonta Sahib town in Sirmaur district got 88 mm, while Bilaspur town received 33.6 mm and Dharamsala 6.8 mm.
State capital Shimla got 25 mm rainfall and recorded a low of 16.2 degrees Celsius.
The tourist towns of Shimla, Kufri, Kasauli, Chamba, Dharamsala and Manali, may get more rain, the official said.
A government spokesperson said that the Satluj, Beas and Yamuna rivers and their tributaries are in spate in Kinnaur, Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur and Sirmaur districts.
“We have issued an advisory to people settled along the banks of rivers to move to safer places,” an official said here.
There were reports of link road closure in interiors of Shimla, Sirmaur, Mandi, Hamirpur and Kullu districts, hampering the movement of traffic.
