Shimla, January 24: Large parts of Himachal Pradesh reeled under severe cold conditions Monday, with the minimum temperature staying below or near freezing point in many areas, the weather office here said.
Keylong, the headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti district, was the coldest place in the state with minimum temperature at minus 16.7 degrees Celsius against Sunday’s minus 15.8 degrees Celsius.
The entire district reeled under severe cold climatic conditions with the mercury hovering around 10-20 degrees Celsius below the freezing point.
The night temperature in state capital Shimla was 2.1 degrees Celsius, while the maximum was 12 degrees Celsius.
Kalpa in Kinnaur district saw a low of minus 5.2 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 0.6 degrees at Bhuntar, 4.5 degrees at Dharamsala, and minus 1.2 degrees in Solan, a met department release said.
The weather office predicted dry weather across the state Tuesday.
