Hike in Ex Gratia under study: Talasani

Animal Husbandry and Dairy development Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today directed the officials to prepare proposals to increase ex gratia to Rs 5 lakh from the existing Rs one lakh to the kin of deceased fishermen, shepherd in the accidents.

Speaking at a high-level review meeting, the minister said he would talk to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to raise ex gratia and allot 20 acres of land for grazing the cattle in the villages and encourage plantation under Harithaharam. He also directed the officials to complete construction of four big fish markets in Hyderabad, being funded by National Fishermen Development Board. Srinivas Yadav also asked the officials to distribute fish among the fishermen before July 15 as Monsoon is to set in. He also said Gopala Mitra services would be monitored by Veterinary assistant surgeons, provide fodder to farmers, set up veterinary hospitals with staff, medicines and facilities. The government will rethink on GO No. 6 issued for registration of societies, he said. Yadav asked the officials to distribute Vijaya Dairy milk products along with gift packs to ministers, MLAs, MLCs and district Collectors and strengthen dairies for better benefits. (NSS)
