Hijabi faces 20-minutes security check for entering Karnataka Assembly

Bangalore: It is not a new thing for Muslim hijab wearing girls across the countries now, to witness humiliating experiences while security checks at airports, malls and other public offices.

A hijab-wearing student who went with her classmates to observe a Karnataka Assembly session on Wednesday had a demeaning experience when the police asked her to remove her abaya and was checked for 20 minutes, reported HT.

The security staff asked her to remove her hijab which left the student of Christ Junior College in tears.

“Someone took a video of the police asking her to remove the burqa,” Christ Junior College Principal Fr. Biju K. Chacko told.

“The police allowed her to enter the assembly gallery only after the teachers assured them about the girl’s identity,” he said.
