High polling indicates ample space for third force: YSRC

The YSR Congress Party has said the high polling percentage shows that people have vented their feelings and anger against the ruling Congress and main Opposition Telugu Desam and the catharsis of dissent was indicated through the votes.

Party spokesperson Gattu Ramachandra Rao on Wednesday told media persons “The theory of bi-polar system or only two-party system should exist in the State has been rejected outright by the people who seems to be resolute in voting for YSR Congress party.”

Both anti-incumbency and the anti-party factors played a big role and the Congress and TDP should understand that the conspiracy theory which they adopted targeting YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has its own impact and the false charges levelled against him had found voice in the people’s mandate, he said.

“The anger of the people has flown in to the ballot box and all the scheming moves right from the court cases, to IT raids, to CBI harassment and finally putting Jagan in jail have reflected in the polling percentage,” he said.

People came with determination and clarity while the ruling and opposition parties had nothing to offer to the people and only had resorted to negative campaigning targeting Jagan and voters with all their wisdom had shown the power, he said.

There were occasions when Congress and TDP mutually served and helped each other targeting Jagan with the common agenda to defeat or at least bring down the majority of YSRC candidates as they still believe that the State would be confined to a two-party system.

Janata Party emerged as an alternative to the Congress post emergency days and when the coalition did not live up to the expectations people have voted the Congress back to power. In the State itself, TDP under the leadership of NTR was given a big majority and people voted Congress back when N Chandrababu Naidu was distancing himself from the masses.

YSR brought Congress back and when the present dispensation and TDP are running away from people, it is obvious that YSRC has emerged as an alternative and a force to reckon with, he said.(INN)
