High job-risk, poor pay causing brain drain in

Hyderabad, April 26: The All-India Bankers Forum has expressed concern at the increasing brain drain from the banking industry due to poor wages and high job-risk.

Forum convener B krishna Reddy told reporters here today that the bipartite settlement was delayed by two and a half years due to the lethargy of banks associations and the United Forum for Bank Unions. “A bank employee does not get more than Rs 10,000 on appointment and 50 per cent of the employees are leaving the banks after one year of service.’’ Even after the settlement, bankers would be the lowest- paid compared to central, public sector, railways and other industries, Reddy pointed out. Most of the nationalised banks were understaffed and failing to give satisfactory service to the customers, he observed.

Reddy said he saw a conspiracy behind this to weaken the government banks in the country and called upon all public sector bank employees to wake up and unite to foil the plot. He wanted them to mail to bankersforumindia@ Yahoo.com.

Krishna Reddy demanded that as the ninth bipartite settlement was not reasonable, bank managements should provide more relief to their employees.

He wanted the United Forum for Bank Unions to be vigilant to protect the members and industry in the coming years.
