High court takes up RTI Commrs appointment issue

High Court has admitted the Public Interest Litigation filed challenging the appointment of Commissioners of the Right to Information Act, on Monday. The Court served notices to the State Government and posted the matter for next week. The Court made it clear that the Government actions will be subject to the directions of the Court. The Court asked the State Government to file counter within two weeks.

Meanwhile, Jana Chaithanya Vedika State Committee has welcomed the decision of the High Court. It asked the newly appionted commissioners not to perform their duties till the final verdict of the Court. JCV said that it would be better to the Commissioners if they withdraw voluntarily as RTI Commissioners, and it will be respecting the RTI Act-2005.
