High Court advises Jagan to cooperate with CBI

The High Court has advised the YSR Congress chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy to cooperate with the CBI in its investigation into the disproportionate assets charges he was facing.

The High Court which has dismissed the quash petition of Jagan and gave his custody to the CBI for five days as the agency had sought, made it clear that CBI custody was necessary in view of the seriousness of the case. The court has said that there was need for a comprehensive investigation, as the charges Jagan was facing were of special nature. The court has also said that CBI has to investigate into 37 other charges not mentioned in its three charge-sheets.

The court also said that being the president of a party, Jagan should cooperate with the CBI in its investigation. The court has dismissed the contention of Jagan’s lawyers that CBI had arrested him with ulterior motives. The court has upheld the contention of the CBI that CBI custody was necessary for further investigation. The court has also expressed the view that there was need for further investigation into the Vanpic case. (NSS)
