High Court admonishes illegal occupants of Gutla Begumpet wakf land

Hyderabad: TS Wakf Board received support from Hyderabad High Court in the case of illegal occupation on the wakf land of Eidgah Gutla Begumpet.

Justice SV Bhat admonished the illegal occupants for continuing constructions violating court orders issued earlier.

The judge directed TS Wakf Board to produce evidence in respect of illegal constructions with photographs.

It may be mentioned that Justice Naveen Rao had issued orders in the last week of April 2018 to maintain ‘Status Quo’ and also to stop all construction activities. Despite these orders, construction work was in progress.

When the hearing of the case started on 13th June, the illegal occupants sought time so that Wakf Board could be made party. Senior Standing Counsel, Mr. Shafeeq Mahajir informed the court that time is being sought to prolong the case. He also informed that despite court orders, constructions are in progress. The area surrounding the masjid has been occupied by illegal possessors which may cause hindrance to the worshippers on the occasion of Eidul Fitr. Justice Bhat got irritated at the illegal occupants and asked why they are violating court orders. The Judge warned the illegal occupants that stern action would be taken against them. He directed TS Wakf Board to present evidence with photographs so that it will be helpful for the court to pronounce judgment.

It may also be noted that Wakf Board is getting ready to file a contempt of court petition in Hyderabad High Court against the illegal occupants.

Earlier, Wakf Board had issued Gazette notification declaring 90 acre of land as Wakf property.
