High alert at K’taka’s borders

Bangalore, February 14: Karnataka was put on high alert in the wake of yesterday’s bomb blast at the German Bakery in Pune that claimed nine lives and left 57 injured.

A police team had left for Pune to coordinate with the security agencies and collect information on the act and its possible ramifications on the state.

Speaking to UNI here today, Director General of Police Ajay Kumar Singh said the team, led by a SP, had left for Pune last night. ”We have put in place police teams in all border areas, especially in Bidar, which connects Maharashtra and Andhra, where all vehicles and trains are being checked,” he said.

Police have been asked to be on high alert in the Belgaum,Bijapur, Bidar bordering Maharsahtra and also in Gulbarga, Bangalore and Mangalore having interstate borders, he said.
