Hyderabad, April 09: Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), New Delhi, secured first prize under the Bugle Calls category while Border Security Force (BSF) and West Bengal Police team bagged first prizes under Brass Band and Pipe Band categories respectively in the 10th All-India Police Band Competitions. The BSF team also bagged over all Championship trophy.
The four-day police band competitions concluded at the Railway Protection Force (RPF) training centre here today. The police band competitions were held in three different categories – Pipe band, Brass band and Bugle Calls.
Addressing the gathering, South Central Railway General Manager M S Jayanth said that the RPF personnel have been playing a key role in protecting railway properties and passengers’ lives. An Integrated Security Scheme has been drawn up for 195 vulnerable and sensitive railway stations, he said.
“On the South Central Railway, the scheme is being implemented in Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Tirupati Railway stations at a cost of over Rs 6 crore,” Jayanth said.
Chief Security Commissioner (CSC) of RPF and organising secretary B Mohan said that the 10th All-India Police Band Competitions went off peacefully.
“As many as 23 teams from all states and Central security services participated in the event and nearly 1,110 police personnel performed their skills in the competitions,” he said.
Aruna Bahuguna, Director General, Fire and Emergency Services, Captain Anchees, Indian Navy, Mumbai, Lt. Cdr V C D’Cruz, Eastern Naval Command, Visakhapatnam were the jury members.
