Heroin worth Rs 5 crore seized

Amritsar, April 03: Punjab Police today seized one kg of heroin, worth Rs 5 crore in black market, and arrested two persons in this connection.

Lakhbir Singh and Rajbir Singh were arrested by sleuths of special operation cell (SOC) at general bus stand of the city, AIG (SOC) Manminder Singh said.

The duo were resident of villages which are close to the Indo-Pakistan border, he said, adding that the consignment was recently smuggled from Pakistan to sell in local market.

Both the arrested were involved in smuggling of fake Indian currency and heroin from the neighbouring country through Khemkaran sector of the Indo-Pak border, Singh said.

Raids were being conducted to arrest the associates of the duo, he added.
