A heroic football player reportedly saved his opponent’s life on the field with his quick-thinking actions, thus preventing a Ukranian Premier League game from ending into tragedy.
Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk midfielder Jaba Kankava rushed to his opponent’s first aid after goalkeeper Denys Boyko’s vicious knee knocked Dynamo Kiev captain Oleh Husyev unconscious and caused his tongue to block his airway.
According to the New York Daily News, although the match continued on the field, Kankava rushed in to save Husyev, as no one had rushed in to save the Kiev skipper, and he flipped his opponent onto his back and pulled his tongue out of his throat so that Husyev may start breathing again
Other players and first aid responders soon joined the rescue effort and Husyev was taken to a nearby hospital on a stretcher after he regained consciousness, the report added.
Husyev has suffered a concussion and broken jaw and the hospital, which treated him, has credited Kankava for helping save his opponents life, the report further added. (ANI)
