It came as a surprise to Bollywood fans when it was announced that Priyanka Chopra would be leaving Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat, owing to her engagement with Nick Jonas. She was expected to start shooting for the film, which also starred Salman Khan. It was meant to be her Bollywood comeback, after a hiatus of two years.
There were rumours that Salman was miffed with her exit and had vowed never to work with her. His father Salim Khan had told the media that these are all baseless rumors ,and said that Salman wasn’t upset at all and that these things happen in the industry all the time.
Inevitably, Salman was asked about this at the trailer launch of Loveratri. He answered, “I haven’t read the newspaper in the last few days, when I do, I will have an answer for you.”
Earlier, Priyanka Chopra’s mother Madhu had dismissed reports of Salman being upset with Priyanka. She had said, “You people (media) only make such stuff up, Salman is not upset with her.”
Katrina Kaif has replaced Priyanka in the film. Bharat also stars Disha Patani and Tabu, and will release in Eid 2019.
